The 2010 Oscar winning animated film “Up” is really worth seeing. The storyline is outlandish but without losing the element of, life, it is rich in content, with profound message, and from both the narrative and artistic point of view, it is an excellent work, and the film set in modern days. And time will prove that Up is indeed a monumental work. The film begins with a fairy-tale kind of story,a loving couple, love, romance, curiosity and adventure, with the shared life experiences and emotions of ordinary people. In the face of the demolition of his home property, the protagonist is recalcitrant, refractory, with persitent and loyal feelings towards his late lover, a nostalgic heart, he stands firm, insisting on retaining the space, forming a sharp contrast to the milieu. Facing both legal and fashion coercion, the old man embarks on a chimerical journey. This is where it gets so gripping, especially towards the end, it makes me see something, and know something. Whether it’s the plot, the characters, backgrounds or images, all are very precise in telling the story. The music in this film is sui generis, with a jazz flavor, blends with the charm of classical and pop , again a stark contrast, the orchestration is very shrewd and ingenious, and it’s befitting for the storyline, providing the viewers with the illision of fairyland and the experience of spiritual sublimation. The music effectually acts in concert with the process of us reveling in the film, and is a great help to our understanding and appreciation of the film. While we’re enjoying the film, we can also have a taste of the pleasure music brings to us, it’s really good.
